Originally from Carpio, North Dakota, Mr.
Flaten () graduated, with honors, from North Dakota State University in 1973,
earning a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and in 1982 he
received his Juris Doctor from the University of North
Dakota.
He is licensed to practice in North Dakota and Minnesota
State and Federal Courts and the United States Supreme
Court.
Mr. Flaten was a member of the North Dakota Law Review from
1981-1982, and is the author of “A New Legal Theory
Obviating the Necessity to Identify the Manufacturer of an
Injury – Causing Product is Adopted in a Products Liability
Claim Against Manufacturers of DES”, 57 North Dakota Law
Review 81, 1981. He has also conducted numerous seminars
covering topics such as employment law, commercial
litigation and federal Indian law.
Mr. Flaten is a member of the North Dakota Defense Lawyers
Association, North Dakota State Bar Association and Grand
Forks County Bar Association.
