Zimney Foster has a wide
range of experience in the area of Federal Indian Law in the
representation of business and tribal governmental entities
and businesses. Some of the areas of Federal Indian Law
which we practice are:
-
Jurisdiction.
We advise clients regarding the scope and extent of
state, federal, and tribal jurisdiction to tax, regulate
or resolve disputes and in the drafting of agreements to
maximize enforceability in light of the federal Indian
law doctrines of tribal sovereign immunity and
exhaustion of tribal remedies.
-
Conflict of Law.
Federal Indian Law is complex in that it involves
application of complex federal, state and tribal laws.
Tribal laws are intended to protect the rights of Native
Americans and state and federal laws often apply as
well. Our attorneys are experienced in advising clients
doing business in Indian Country on matters such as, for
example, taxation and tribal sovereignty.
-
Business
Litigation. We are experienced in providing
litigation counsel, and in providing business and
employment advice for business entities planning on
working on or near an Indian reservation.
Attorneys in the Federal
Indian Law practice group have experience in all North
Dakota tribal courts and present seminars on topics
